Summary: We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our Public Works team for a full-time term position from the beginning of May to the end of August. As a Summer Municipal Labourer, you will assist in various tasks related to surveying and data collection. You will be responsible for tasks such as locating water and sewer infrastructure, collecting attribute data for assets, performing condition assessments, and various other GIS-related tasks.
Classification: Full-Time, Seasonal 40 hours/week
Reports to: Public Works Foreman
Duties of the position include:
- Conduct surveys with Leica GPS equipment
- Perform asset surveys and data collection in the field
- Collect data from record documents/drawings
- Condition assessments
- Data entry to GIS software
- Data validation
Experience and Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those who are currently in the process of earning a civil engineering degree or completing a civil technical program
- Experience with GPS surveying is considered an asset
- Experience with GIS concepts and software is considered an asset
- Experience operating equipment such as four-wheelers, side-by-sides, etc.
- Ability to comprehend maps, engineering drawings and reports
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to plan and organize assigned tasks in an efficient manner
- Communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Required:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- CSA-approved footwear
- Criminal record check
