Trans Canada Trail Tree Project
The Trans Canada Trail (also known as The Great Trail) in the Altona-Gretna area is part of a larger network that spans across Canada, connecting communities through scenic pathways. The section between Altona and Gretna is primarily a recreational trail that offers opportunities for walking, biking, and hiking.
There is currently a plan to plant trees along the trail between Gretna and Altona. They are anticipating planting around 900 trees following a design by Morden Nurseries. The Committee requested that the Rhineland Council inquire with the Pembina Valley Watershed District to obtain as many free trees as possible and has applied to the Green Municipal Fund (GMF) for tree planting activities.
